Rugby fans from the UK could be booking ferries to Dublin next May after it was announced that the Irish capital will host the finals of Europe's biggest rugby union club competitions.

Dublin has been named the 2013 European Capital of Rugby, meaning it will be the venue for both the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup finals.

It will be the third time that the city has hosted the final of the Heineken Cup - Europe's most prestigious club rugby competition - but only the first time it has held the Amlin Challenge Cup final.

The announcement comes after Dublin club Leinster beat Ulster in the final of this year's Heineken Cup final at Twickenham on Saturday (May 19th).
